Lake Pichola – Where History Meets Beauty
Lake Pichola – Where History Meets Beauty
Lake Pichola is one of the most beautiful and famous lakes in India, located in the heart of Udaipur, Rajasthan. Surrounded by majestic mountains, grand palaces, and ancient temples, the lake offers a magical view that attracts tourists from all over the world. It was built in 1362 by a local ruler named Pichhu Banjara and is named after the nearby village of Picholi. This artificial freshwater lake is about 4 kilometers long and 3 kilometers wide. It is home to four islands, the most popular being Jag Niwas, which houses the stunning Lake Palace, now a luxury hotel. Another island, Jag Mandir, features a beautiful palace once used by royal families for summer retreats. The grand City Palace stands proudly on the lake’s eastern banks, reflecting beautifully in the calm waters. Boating on Lake Pichola is a peaceful and popular activity, especially during sunset when the sky turns golden and the lake glows. Birds fly gracefully over the water, and the reflections of the buildings create a dream-like atmosphere. With its royal charm and serene surroundings, it’s no surprise that many films have been shot here. Lake Pichola is truly the shining jewel of Udaipur, offering a perfect blend of nature, history, and romance.
